Amazing Health Benifits Of Broccoli

Broccoli Curing Cancer ?
Researchers have discovered compounds in broccoli that prevent or slow the progress of cancer cells. Eating broccoli regularly has been linked to lower chances of developing lung, colon, stomach, prostate, ovarian, and breast cancers. Health experts recommend that we consume at least one serving of dark green vegetables a day, so add some broccoli to your plate!

In recent years, broccoli has made the headlines regarding three components found in the vegetable. For instance, indole-3-carbinol has captured the attention of those looking to prevent hormone-related cancers, such as breast- and prostate cancer.

I3C promotes "good" hormones, while working against destructive ones. The "sulforaphane" in broccoli also helps to increase the level of enzymes that block cancer, while the beta-carotene in broccoli transforms into vitamin A within the body, providing an effective antioxidant that destroys free radicals (responsible for weakening the defense of cells).

Additionally, the health benefits of broccoli have been linked to preventing and controlling the following medical concerns: Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, calcium deficiencies, heart disease, arthritis, and even the aging process.

High Fiber Foods Can Lower cholesterol

Oatmeal and Lower cholesterol

Oatmeal contains soluble fiber, which reduces your low-density (LDL), the "bad" cholesterol. Soluble fiber is also found in such foods as kidney beans, many nuts, apples, pears, barley and many other foods.

Soluble fiber can reduce the absorption of cholesterol into your bloodstream. Five to 10 grams or more of soluble fiber a day decreases your total and LDL cholesterol. Eating 1 1/2 cups of cooked oatmeal provides 6 grams of fiber. If you add fruit not only do you have great tasting breakfast that everyone in the family will enjoy, but you add more cholesterol fighting fiber. You can add about 4 more grams of fiber to your meal with just a few pieces of banana or apple.
The steel-cut oatmeal is said to retain more fiber than "processed" oats.

The Health and Healing Power of Grape Seeds - So Simple

Another Age Old Supplement Comes to Life

It never ceases to amase me how many "recent studies" are proving what mankind has known about the health and healing properties of simple foods and herbs sense Biblical times.

Human case reports and results from laboratory and animal studies show that grape seed extract may be useful to treat heart diseases such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol. By limiting lipid oxidation, phenolic in grape seeds may reduce risk of heart disease, such as by inhibiting platelet aggregation and reducing inflammation. While such studies are promising, more research including long-term studies in humans is needed to confirm initial findings.

A poly phenol contained in grape seeds is resveratrol which may interfere with cancer cell growth and proliferation, as well as induce apotheosis, among a variety of potential chemo-preventive effects.

Grape seed components may also be active against HIV by inhibiting virus expression and replication.

A Recent Study:
A team of scientists from the US and China have discovered that grape-seed extract kills laboratory leukemia cells by making them commit suicide, thus showing the potential value of natural compounds in the treatment of cancer.

One Natural Way To Lower Blood Pressure

Home Remedies for High Blood Pressure

One of the best home remedy is garlic. It is very effective and helps a lot in lowering the blood pressure. If daily for 12 weeks a clove of garlic is taken by a patient of high blood pressure it will reduce his cholesterol level, destroy the plaque, and prevent blood clot.

Health Benefits and Uses of Garlic

Garlic's health benefits and medicinal properties have long been known.
Garlic has long been considered a herbal "wonder drug", with a reputation in folklore for preventing everything from the common cold and flu to the Plague! It has been used extensively in herbal medicine.
It wasn't until modern science discovered that Garlic contains high amounts of natural antibiotics that we knew the reason garlic works as a Natural medicine for many thing.

In general, a stronger tasting clove of garlic has more sulfur content and hence more medicinal value it's likely to have. Some people have suggested that organically grown garlic tends towards a higher sulfur level and hence greater benefit to health. In my experience it certainly tastes better so I buy organic whenever possible whether or not it's best for my health.
